Psalm 37: 3-6 3 Trust in the Lord and do good; Live in the land and cultivate faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He will do it. 6 He will bring out your righteousness as the light, And your judgment as the noonday.
Father God, there is so much we don’t know. In fact, some things that matter most in our lives remain the most confounding mysteries. We ask: Why did the young mother have to die, leaving her children to be raised by someone else? Why did the tornado ravage my home and leave my neighbor’s home standing? Why do evil people seem to have such control in events that impact my life so significantly? Oh God, sometimes we just can’t understand.
Lord, when we have difficulty making sense of painful things in life and when we can’t understand Your dealings with us; we still trust and love You. You are our “pillar of fire by night and cloud by day;” guiding us through our wilderness experiences. On the occasions when we can’t walk any longer You carry us in Your loving arms of protection and comfort. Lord, You are all we need. And in Your strength we will make it through the darkest night; assured there’s a brighter day ahead.
Gracious God, in the midst of our most challenging struggle, we learn to trust You and to depend upon Your Word. We discover You are the true source of our peace, hope and power. In sunshine and rain, sickness and pain; You are our God. And we’d rather have Jesus than anything. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
