Psalm 139:1- 6 O Lord, You have searched me and known me.2 You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. Father God, when David prayed, “Search me, God, and know my heart. . . . See if there is any offensive way in me” (Psalm 139:23–24), he wasn’t asking You to learn something You didn’t already know. You are the all-knowing God who sees everything, including our thoughts, motives, and desires. Nothing is hidden from You. David was asking You to help him recognize what was wrong in his heart and show him what he needed to change and surrender to You. Lord God, just as David did, we ask You to examine our hearts and help us see ourselves honestly. Sometimes we may think our attitudes and actions are acceptable without realizing how far they are from what You desire for us. It is like seeing a warning light appear on a car’s dashboard. We might want to ignore it, but the warning is there for a reason. In the same way, Your Holy Spirit reveals the sin we may overlook, convicts us when we do wrong, and helps us recognize when our thoughts, attitudes, and actions are not pleasing to You. Teach us to listen to His conviction rather than make excuses or ignore what He reveals. Help us understand that Your Word—not our feelings or the opinions of others—is the standard by which we should examine our lives. Loving God, thank You for the Holy Spirit, who reveals our sin, leads us to repentance, and empowers us to live in a way that honors You. Thank You for correcting us without abandoning us and for loving us with a love that never fails. Help us remain humble enough to receive Your correction and willing to make the changes You require. Thank You for being the everlasting, omnipresent, and omnipotent God who IS. Thank You for being our holy God. Thank You, Jesus. In Your name we pray. Amen.
