Psalm 30:5 For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning. Holy God, sometimes our times are difficult, and we have battle scars to show for it. But there are some things about the scars we carry that give cause for great joy. Indeed, they show that we’ve been wounded, but they also indicate that there has been healing. We may not be perfectly fine, but we are better than we were. And the scar that is left may not be pretty, but at least it isn’t the gaping wound, oozing with pain and in jeopardy of infection that it once was. It no longer hurts when we brush against it or makes us cry out when somebody touches it. There is a distinctive hardness of the skin covering the wound, showing we are not as vulnerable in that area as we once were. Our life’s scars show that You’ve taken us through the healing and are leading us to joy. We may have wept through the night, but You are taking us to a brighter day. The scars show where we’ve been and the magnitude of Your great work in our lives. The greater the injury, the greater Your healing touch. Lord, please turn our tears from yesterday into our testimony for today, and turn our words of anguish into our language of faith and trust. Guide us, we pray, through the healing process, and anchor us in Your love. Then our ugly scars become reminders of Your beautiful work in our lives, Your power that bursts forth in our weakness, and Your purpose for every experience we have throughout this earthly journey. Lord, we thank You for working all things—the good, the bad, and the ugly—for our good and Your glory. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus’ name.
