PSALM 116 : 17 I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving, And will call upon the name of the LORD. Holy God, today we stand before You with hearts filled with thanksgiving and praise. Please forgive us for sometimes becoming so focused on problems that we fail to thank You for the showers of blessings You daily give. The negative focus darkens our minds and eventually leads us to the sins of pride, self-centeredness and ingratitude. Then we find ourselves on journeys filled with anger, bitterness, chaos, despondency and despair. Lord, please forgive us. Gracious God, when we dwell on what we don’t have or on situations that displease us, our minds become sullied. We begin taking life for granted; ignore the blessings of salvation; and become numb to basic blessings like having food to eat and air to breathe. We feel entitled and brush aside countless blessings from You. We look for what is wrong and refuse to appreciate life as it comes. Lord, we pray for Your strength to abandon our self-absorbed ways of thinking. And we pray for Your wisdom to experience Your peace, joy and hope; whether in good times or bad. Gracious God, today we approach You with thanksgiving and pray for you to transform our hearts of complaint and dissatisfaction to hearts of joy. Please give us the power and wisdom to display attitudes of gratitude during every season in our lives. And may we do all for Your glory and the sake of Your Name. Sovereign God, we surrender all that we are to You. In Jesus Name we pray and give thanks. Amen.
