James 3:7-10 7 For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. 8 But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. 10 Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. Father God, we are all created in Your image; beautifully designed by Your hand. Every human is a creation of Yours, but it's those who receive Christ as Savior who are Your children. We are among those being transformed from the things of this sinful world and conformed to the expressed image of Christ. Gracious God, Your followers are significant and valued as your unique masterpieces, created in Christ Jesus to perform Your good works (Psalm 139:14; Eph. 2:10). That means our words to others or about them should always build and not tear down; bless and not curse; and resonate with hope instead of condemnation. Gracious God, please tame our tongues, transform our low-level minds and clean our hearts so we can better represent Jesus in this dark and dying world. Please cause our tongues to remain instruments of love and peace; filled with grace and quick to show mercy. Lord we yield every part of our being to Your divine control. We enter this day with hearts filled with the desire to honor You in all our ways. Holy God, thank You for the power of Your Spirit who guides us to every good word and work. Thank You for this day during which we will strive to be better and do better than any of our days before. Lord, obedience to You is the new direction of our lives. And in Your strength it shall be so. Thank You Jesus. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen
