Silence the Noise

Writer: Rev. Evelyn Barnes, PastorRev. Evelyn Barnes, Pastor

Hebrews 12 :1-2 Therefore, since we also have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let’s rid ourselves of every obstacle and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking only at Jesus, the originator and perfecter of the faith.

Dear Jesus, as we make the journey through life, please let us keep our hearts, eyes and minds focused on You. You are the One who “endured the cross” on our behalf; thereby surrendering to a criminal’s death that You did not deserve.  You were buried in a borrowed tomb and rose from the grave on the third day with all power in Your hands. You now sit at the right hand of the Father; advocating for those of us who journey through this sin-sick world. Lord, You are our eternal covering.  May we continually look to You;  our Lord, our Strength and our Redeemer.

Master, as we make the pilgrimage through life, please give us wisdom to turn from anything You don’t intend for us to see, hear or experience. Many distractions drain our spiritual strength. They take our attention from You and leave us in vulnerable states; making us easy prey for the devil. In such states we succumb to hopelessness, anger and other overwhelming emotions. If unchecked, we fall into sadness, exercise poor judgment and feel disconnected from You. Lord, You are always there, but we lose our awareness and develop the sense of being alone in our problems.

Most Gracious God, let us not become overburdened with sin nor distracted by the troubles of this world.  Jesus, You are the Center of our Joy. And every good and perfect gift comes from You. We love You Lord.  We worship and adore You. We magnify Your Holy and Righteous Name!  In Jesus Name we pray and give thanks, Amen
