When Waiting is Hard

Psalm 27:14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.
Father God, there are times in our lives when we hear Your voice clearly—times when we have no doubt about where You are leading us, what we should do, or the words we should speak. Everything seems crystal clear. Then there are other times when we simply don’t know what to do. No matter how much we pray, we feel uncertain. We strain to hear Your voice, yet it seems as though You are silent. Faith tells us that You are there, but our human limitations stand in the way.
Lord, when we encounter seasons of uncertainty, help us wait patiently for Your direction. During those times of waiting, keep our attention fixed on You. Guard us from dwelling on the problem; instead, help us look to You—the Sovereign Ruler, Sustainer, and Creator of all life. Even when we do not understand and our confidence in ourselves begins to waver, we trust You to keep us from falling.
Lord, we do not always need answers or fail-safe plans; we simply need Jesus. Grant us the strength, courage, endurance, and patience to wait on You. Increase our faith to trust You in all things and at all times. Strengthen us to hold fast to Your unchanging hand as You guide us through the unknown and through the troubled seasons of our lives.
Lord, we love You, we trust You, and we thank You. In the name of Jesus we pray and give thanks. Amen.
