Proverbs 21:4 4 Haughty eyes, a proud heart and evil actions are all sin.
Heavenly Father, humility is the mark of one who knows, loves and follows you. It is the humble person who has a moderate estimation of him or herself, and understands every good and perfect gift comes from you. The truth is we have absolutely no cause for sinful pride. We controlled nothing when we entered the world; control very little during our life's journey; and will control nothing at the time that we close our eyes in death. It’s all in Your hands.
Lord, intellectual capital, personal possessions, family ties, opportunities, health; and all else that we value are blessings from you and you alone. If we are intelligent, it’s because You gave us intellect. If we are hard workers, it’s because You provided the good health, dexterity and all that is required to do the job. If we are successfully employed it’s because You opened doors of opportunity. You, oh Lord, are the only source of our strength and life; so it is to you alone that we ought lift our heads in total praise and adoration. Holy God, we worship You.
Heavenly Father, today we pray for hearts that are grateful and humbled by your goodness. Gracious God, we pray for your strength to resist attacks on our hearts and minds that lead to pride, arrogance and haughtiness. May we reject the thinking that leads to uncaring, unkind and unforgiving acts toward others. Lord, let us remain spiritually vigilant, morally strong, and mentally alert as we pursue paths of holy and righteous living. Thank you for victory in Christ Jesus. In Jesus Name we pray and give thanks. Amen
