John 3:16 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Father God, all of us recall times in our lives when we resisted your divine call; and refused to live according to Your will and way for our lives. We remember being in inappropriate places and doing things that were shameful to you. All the while Your Holy Spirit was tugging at our hearts, pulling us away from our acts of rebellion. Some of us narrowly escaped death; while others bear scars reminding us there are consequences for being in the wrong places, doing wrong things and associating with the wrong people. The scars are a reminder of your unmerited favor and love for us.
Lord God thank You for never giving up on us; and for continuing to pursue us to the point of our surrender. You found us lost in our sin and trespasses. You picked us up, turned our attention to You and cleansed our wicked hearts. Through the days of our lives, You continually reveal more and more about Yourself; and draw us closer and closer to You. Lord even when we stray far from You, You guide us back; restoring our relationship with You and conforming us to the image of Jesus Christ.
Holy God, we don’t know why You love us so much that You pursue us; and continue pursuing us when we stray. We don’t know why You care about saving our wretched souls; and continue caring about how we live. And Lord, we don’t know why You sent Your Son to die a sinner’s death on our behalf. Holy God, we don’t know why; but we are so glad You did. Thank You Jesus. What a glorious and gracious God we serve. Thank You Jesus. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
