Philippians 4:6-7 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Father God, as political intrigue, personal health crises and other pressing matters plague us; we become trapped in cauldrons of fear, dread and anxiety. The truth is, life’s overwhelming problems tend to: siphon away our trust and faith in You; sow seeds of confusion in our hearts; and lead us on paths to poor physical and mental health. Sovereign God, we pray for spiritual strength to exchange panic for peace; fear for faith; and confusion for contentment in the love and finished work of Jesus Christ.
Father God, we devote this day to prayer and studying Your Word. As we hear Your voice and pour over the pages of Scripture, we will surely gain power to reject worry, anxiety and fear. We will begin singing Your praises; and trust You are working all things together for our good and Your glory. After hearing from You, we will remain convinced that You have “plans for our well-being and not our calamity.” Lord God, You alone have power to ensure our future and offer us hope. You alone love us with an everlasting love. And we trust You.
Holy God, we confess that too often we permit our worldly concerns to imprison us; and we fail to rely on Your power for peace. Today we ask for forgiveness and seek deliverance. We pray for spiritual wisdom and strength to leave our worries, anxieties, and fears at Your feet; and receive Your peace in exchange. Thank You Lord for loving us so; and providing for our every need. Thank You for leading us beside still waters and giving us Your rest. Lord, we receive it. In the Name of Jesus, we receive it. And we give You thanks. In Jesus Name. Amen.
