Peace in Your Presence

Luke 12: 31-32 31 But seek His kingdom, and these things will be provided to you. 32 Do not be afraid, little flock, because your Father has chosen to give you the kingdom.

Father God, the world is living in a time marked by fears and stoked by repetitive media coverage of tragic events and conditions. Our hearts and minds are being assaulted like no other time in our personal histories; causing many to live in terror and despondency. This morning, we pray for Your strength to shift our focus from the mania existing in the world to You.

Father God, we should and must remain informed regarding current events; but let us refuse to allow negativity to command our focus. It cannot and shall not occupy the center of our attention. Rather, may we seek Your kingdom and Your righteousness by dwelling on the truths of Your Word; spending time with You in prayer; and serving You by serving others.

Gracious God, please remind us of Your presence in our lives; Your sufficient care for all our needs; and Your everlasting love that ushers us through time and eternity. When our hearts and minds are riddled with fear and  anxiety; please let us intentionally shift our thoughts, stop worrying and seek Your face. Let us build our hopes and dreams on that which is eternal; while holding tightly to Your unchanging hand.

Today we reject the tyranny of fear, anger, anxiety and the like.  We turn away from the deception and hatred of the world and bow humbly in worship before You. Thank You for the power of the Holy Spirit who enables us to shift our attention from wickedness to Your redeeming love. Thank You for the peace and confidence we have in You. Thank You for being The One True and Trustworthy God!  Thank You Lord.  In Jesus Name we pray. Amen
