Hebrews 12:2
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Father In Heaven, everyone who is called by Your name has the Biblical mandate to forgive and love others. We are required to have the correct focus. Rather than dwelling on past hardships, on what others have done wrong, and the inequities in life; You call us to keep our minds focused on You. Let us recall the countless times You bless us when we don’t deserve it; You hold back judgement that we rightly deserve and You lavishly cover us with Your love. Even when we are unlovely.
Lord, it is wise to acknowledge the assaults that have come against us. And it is important to prayerfully develop strategies that help us recognize and address our personal challenges that come from pain and trauma. However, the offense and the offender should never consume us. They should never be given power to change our behaviors; control our thoughts; obscure Your great love for us; or drain our spiritual strength. Please grant us power and resolve to walk before You in trusting faith at all times; knowing in our hearts that we are ultimately the victors and not victims.
Lord, we pray for the right perspective because the way we frame events determines how we feel about them. And how we feel about our experiences determines our behaviors. Today You present us the choice to give in to anxiety, anger and dread; or cast our cares on You. Holy God, we know You care for us, so let us choose well. With our eyes and hearts on You, we are positioned to hear Your voice and take meaningful action along the pathway of love, joy and peace. Lord, we thank You for the healing, hope and assurances we have in Christ Jesus. Thank You. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
