My Desires

Ecclesiastes 3:11

11 He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, without the possibility that mankind will find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end.

Most Gracious God,

No matter how much we know, possess, or achieve, we are never fully satisfied. There is always something more to pursue—another goal, experience, or possession. But none of these things can fill the deep longing within us. As Augustine said, our hearts are restless until they rest in You. And Your Word tells us that You have set eternity in our hearts. The void we feel is God-shaped—only You can satisfy it.

You created us for everlasting fellowship with You, not for the temporary pleasures of this world. Our restlessness, our constant striving, and even our disappointments reflect a deeper yearning for what is eternal, true, and unchanging. In all our ambitions and desires, our souls are ultimately reaching for You.

Thank You, Lord, for placing eternity in our hearts and giving us Your Holy Spirit to guide and comfort us. May we find peace and contentment wherever we are, as long as You are with us. The world will never be enough—only You fulfill our deepest needs and desires. Only You.
