Psalm 46:10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Father God, we hear You calling us to moments of stillness and rest before You. In the midst of the hustle and bustle of life, the turmoil all around us, and the dangers that sometimes loom so large, You tell us to “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). In other words, we should seek rest in Your will and acknowledge You as the sovereign God and ruler over all. We don’t have to fix or figure everything out; we can cast our cares upon You. You are worthy of all our trust.
Master, You are unchangeable, all-powerful, and all-wise. You rule over heaven and earth, and nothing is hidden from You. You control the minds of kings, turn the tides of the oceans, and guide the direction of the winds. You keep the sun and stars shining in the sky and the mountains standing upon the earth. Lord, without Your divine order and majestic rule, it would all collapse. As high and mighty as You are, You still take time to care for each of us as though we were Your only child.
Gracious God, You provide shelter for us in the heat of the day and hold us in Your arms when life is overwhelming. In the middle of all life’s dilemmas, please help us trust You and find sweet rest in the quiet awareness of Your unfailing love. Let us learn to be silent and enjoy the blessings of peace in Your presence, purpose in Your plan, and protection in Your promises. Glory! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
