James 2:8 “If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:”
Father God, Your royal law instructs us to love You with all our hearts, souls and with all our minds…. And love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:39-40). Lord, we pray for Your strength to walk in the power of Your love that is poured in to our hearts by the Holy Spirit (Roman’s 5:5). When abiding in Your love, we can: treat everyone right; respectfully disagree; patiently wait for others to “catch up;” graciously correct a wrong; and faithfully champion what is good in Your sight. Holy God, please teach us that rebellion against You is always wrong; and often ends with unfavorable results. But obedience to You is evidence of our love for You; and will always yield everlasting benefits.
Gracious God, please cause us to see beauty in those who think, look and act very different from us. May we see them as You see them - and treat them accordingly. We pray for Your wisdom and strength to recognize that love makes room for differences and gives no place to jealousy, rudeness, hatred and the like. Love resists the destructive fires of unbridled anger, rage, envy and revenge. These are spiritual cancers that eat away at the fiber of our hearts and drain strength from our spirit.
Holy Father, we pray for spiritual strength and obedience to walk in Your divine love; sharing it liberally as we go. May we love all people for the sake Your Name; even the unlovely and ungracious. Almighty God, we surrender ourselves to Your hands; for Your divine use in the lives of all people. Have Your way Lord. In Jesus Name we pray and give thanks. Amen.
