Love Another

Luke 6:27-28 27. But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.

Father God, there are still Christians in the world are facing imprisonment, beatings and harassment just for speaking your name; yet many do it with unimaginable courage and grace. During their walk with You, they’ve  learned to obey Your command to “love your enemies” (Luke 6:27), even in the harshest of circumstances.  Even when enemies refuse to love in return.

Lord, we may never face physical persecution for our faith, but we will surely encounter people who hate and mistreat us. May we hear and obey Jesus as He instructs us to love our adversaries and treat them well.  To be clear: You are not directing us to continually put ourselves in harms way or to assume the role of a physical or emotional “punching bag” for some misguided person. But you are saying to cease hating the hater. You are saying to stop musing over ways to make them pay for their offense; and instead leave retribution to You. And You are saying to forgive easily; live above the fray of wrath and bitterness; and always remain ready to do good.  Yes Lord, in Your strength we are “ equipped for every good work.”

Today, let us pray fo those who are unkind towards us and even consider themselves our adversaries. We pray for their souls to be saved;  their minds to be focused on You; and their hearts to be cleansed by the blood of Jesus. Let us pray that one day they too will walk in Your presence and feel Your great love. Today let us look, love and pray for all.  In Jesus Name we pray and give thanks.  Amen
