Iron Sharpens Iron

2 Corinthians 1: 3-4 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

Gracious and Holy God, You have poured so much into our lives. One of the simplest and most powerful ways we honor You is by letting those blessings overflow into the lives of others. You have given freely—not for us to hold tightly to these gifts, but so we might become vessels of Your generosity. Let our love be shared, our testimonies spoken, and our gifts used for the good of those around us.

Remind us, Lord, that kindness costs us nothing, yet it can mean everything. A gentle word, a listening ear, a sincere encouragement—these small acts can become lifelines for hearts weighed down by sorrow or discouragement.

Stir in us a genuine desire to be kind. Help us not to wait for convenient moments or familiar faces, but to look for opportunities to love, uplift, and encourage others—especially those who are unseen or overlooked. Open our eyes to where we have neglected, judged, or dismissed others. Where pride or prejudice has taken root, give us the humility to tear it down.

Guard us, Lord, from becoming instruments of harm. Keep our hearts from bitterness, our words from cruelty, and our lives from indifference. Teach us to bring healing instead of hurt, unity instead of division, and light instead of darkness. May our lives reflect the heart of Jesus—marked by kindness, courage, compassion, and grace. Let it be so. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
