How Can I Serve You

Romans 12:10-13 10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; 11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 12 rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; 13 distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.

Father God, even during our hours of suffering, You prepare us to uniquely minister to the pain of others. We who experience tremendous loss are among the most qualified to minister to the one who experiences similar losses. We become credible witnesses, supporters and advisors because we’ve struggled through the same unimaginable pain. There is redemptive value in every trial and tragedy we encounter.

Gracious God, our most grievous experiences can convey restorative messages, which we can freely share with fellow sufferers. There is power in the simple fact that You brought us through our ordeal. And if You did it for us, You can do it for others. Lord, You give us testimonies to share. We are the living proof of Your goodness; and letters of hope to those who suffer.  You give purpose and power to our suffering; using every aspect of our earthly journey for Your Kingdom purposes.

Lord, please forgive us for not noticing those who are suffering. Please give us discerning eyes that quickly see the one with whom we can share our joys and sorrows as we walk through our day. Let us be encouragers for the downtrodden. And may we: “Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn;” devoting to one another as unto You. Holy Father, You intend the body of Christ—Your church— to help one another and remain strong through hard times. Lord, let us do our part. And let us do it for the sake of Your Name.  In Jesus Name we pray and give thanks. Amen.
