He Understands, He Knows

Psalm 109: 26-27 Help me, Lord my God; Save me according to Your mercy. 27 And may they know that this is Your hand; You, Lord, have done it.

Father God, thank You for sending Your only begotten Son to this world; that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). Jesus Christ left the glories of heaven to walk this fallen world; enduring the pain and paying the ultimate price for our sins with His own life.

Lord, we know our Savior experienced the pain of living in a fallen world and understands precisely how we feel in our day-to-day struggles. He suffered exhaustion, hunger, thirst, and rejection just as we do. He also knows the heartache of being lonely; misunderstood; hated; and unjustly treated. He knows what it is to cry at the graveside of a loved one and feel the isolation that accompanies grief and loss.

Dear Jesus, You know our pain, because You experienced it firsthand. And You care. So we trust You and look to You when our days are difficult; and trouble takes us to the brink of helplessness and desperation. Lord, we pray the words of the psalmist: “As the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master; As the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress; So our eyes look to You, Until You are gracious to us” (Psalm 123).

Lord, You may not always remove the anguish or change our circumstances, but You supply us with everything we need to make it through. More importantly, You walk with us through it all; giving us hope; providing the perfect assurance that trouble will not last always; and letting us know we are safe in Your hands. Lord, in Your strength, we’re going to make it! In fact, we are making it right now. Glory, Hallelujah, we are making it through! In Jesus’ name we pray and give thanks. Amen.
