MATTHEWS 6: 14-15 14 For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Holy Father, may we follow Jesus' example by loving sacrificially, giving unconditionally, and serving graciously. We pray for humble hearts filled with Your grace and mercy. Hearts free to love and forgive as we should. Master, many of us are weighed down and spiritually handicapped by pain we refuse to let go; hurt feelings that we tightly wrap in our anger, bitterness; and an inability to forgive. Some offenders are no longer alive, and we still refuse to let go.
Lord, having been forgiven by You and set free from the shackles of sin, we have every incentive to forgive others. Without consideration for how we will benefit, we should remain ready to offer forgiveness; even to those who despise us. You said: if we forgive those who sin against us, we will also forgive us (Matthew 6:14). We forgive because You tell us to forgive. And our obedience pleases You. Master, forgiveness is primarily our response to You; not the offense nor offender.
Father God, we pray for You to grant sufficient spiritual strength for us to give generously from the well of forgiveness. When we forgive; we place our obedience to Your will, faithfulness to Your Word, and loving gratitude for Your sacrifice on display. Lord, thank You for giving us the strength to release the offenders in our lives to You. And we trust You to make it right. In Jesus Name we pray, amen
