A Compass in Chaos

Psalm 35:6-8 Therefore let everyone who is faithful pray to You at a time that You may be found. When great floodwaters come, they will not reach him. 7 You are my hiding place; You protect me from trouble. You surround me with joyful shouts of deliverance. Selah 8 I will instruct you and show you the way to go; with My eye on you, I will give counsel.

Father God, there are moments in our lives when we feel unencumbered and free of angst and distress of any sort. It seems that the sun is shining brightly and we effortlessly move through the day with smiles on our faces. But life is like a rip tide; one moment we feel capable and are smooth-sailing and then it all changes. Trouble rushes in like a forceful wave that proves overwhelming and impossible to traverse.

Lord, such moments in life make us keenly aware of our need for a Savior. We need One with power and authority over the storms in our lives; One who establishes and equips us to make it through; and One who can save our wretched souls from the damming ravages of sin. We need Jesus! Father God, in the final analysis, our trouble is Your tool; used to draw us closer in our relationship with You. Though it never feels pleasant to experience life spinning out of our control; if it forces us to depend on You, it has good outcomes. During tough times Your unfailing love surrounds us; giving us rest and peace in the safety of Your arms. You show us the benefits of leaning on You and let us know trouble will not last always.

Lord God, Weeping may endure through the night, but You bring us sure joy in the morning-time. And with spiritually keen ears and discerning hearts; we always find You during our times of trouble. We can feel the safety of Your arms all around us. Holy God, we love and trust You above all things, in all things and through all things. You are our God. In Jesus Name we pray and give thanks. Amen
