Because He Cares

Mark 5: 18-20 18 And as He was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed was begging Him that he might accompany Him. 19 And He did not let him, but He *said to him, “Go home to your people and report to them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He had mercy on you.” 20 And he went away and began to proclaim in Decapolis what great things Jesus had done for him; and everyone was amazed.

Father God, we are grateful for the marvelous ways You use us to advance the purposes of Your Kingdom. Though our names may never be known in circles of earthly influence, spoken among the rich and famous, or written in books, we are Your chosen people. We are a royal priesthood, consecrated to proclaim the story of redemption in a world bound by sin.

Gracious God, regardless of who we are or how much we have or don’t have, each of us has a testimony to share. We can tell lost men and women, boys and girls, that there was a time when we too were sinking deep in sin, our hearts in rebellion against You. Yet You found us in our lost state, heard our cries, and lifted us from the abyss of sin. You cleansed our hearts from the stain of wickedness and gave us brand-new beginnings in You. Now, we walk in freedom through Christ Jesus.

Lord, our testimonies are messages of hope and deliverance—stories of a journey from the bondage of sin and spiritual death to eternal victory in Christ. After Jesus delivered the demoniac, He instructed him, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you” (Mark 5:19). In the same way, we are called to tell the world the wonderful things You have done—and continue to do—in our lives.

Father God, we may not hold multiple degrees in theology from prestigious institutions; we may not even feel qualified to teach a Sunday School class for toddlers. Yet we can tell everyone what Jesus has done for us—how He sought us when we were dead in our trespasses and sins, and how He redeemed us with His precious blood. With repentant hearts, we now live in victory through Jesus, our Savior forever. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
