Are You Thankful?

Proverbs 19:24 Lazy people take food in their hand but don’t even lift it to their mouth.
Lord God, we seek Your forgiveness for being slothful stewards of the faith. We confess that there are times when You prepare banquet tables of blessings before us, yet “we take them in our hands but never lift them to our mouths.” In doing so, we rob ourselves of joy and of the many benefits that come when we diligently serve You with grateful hearts.
Too often, we overlook the blessings You so bountifully provide. We neglect the truths of Your Word and fail to serve You wholeheartedly, with diligence and joy. Our minds wonder toward what we lack, instead of rejoicing in what You have already placed within our reach. Lord, our commitment to You falters when we grow complacent and disinterested in the many ways You display Your favor in our lives. Our ingratitude makes us miss our blessings and it mutes our joy.
Today, we turn away from distractions, greed, and pride—those things that lull us into spiritual lethargy and ingratitude. We do not want to be lazy, uninformed, or disobedient servants. Please strengthen us to complete all that You assign and to serve You with joy, enthusiasm, and diligence.
Thank You for the gift of this day. May we use it well, to Your glory and praise. In Jesus Name, amen.
