The Mind of Christ

Micah 7:18-19 Who is a God like You, pardoning iniquity and passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in mercy. He will again have compassion on us, and will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.

Heavenly Father, there is not a person among us who has no reason to ask your forgiveness. Every day we fall short of Your glory. And every day we have need to seek Your mercy, grace and forgiveness. Today we can rejoice in the certain knowledge that: if we sincerely confess our sins; “You are faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Gracious God, we find the key to living the victorious life in Christ Jesus is to surrender our hearts and humble ourselves before You; thereby exchanging our weakness for Your strength. Then we discover we don’t have to carry the weight of past sins, nor the guilt and shame that past decisions have created; we are forgiven. And as we receive Your forgiveness, we make room to forgive others. We discover Your peace; the freedom to repent; and the spiritual ability to live beyond offenses, insults, and malicious intentions.

Lord, as we enter this holiday season, please help us to rise above the burden of an unforgiving spirit. Grant us, we pray, spiritual strength, maturity and conviction to love, serve and forgive others as we should. Lord, please let forgiveness fill our hearts, permeate our minds and liberate our troubled souls. And then, oh God, we can leave the rest to You. Our satisfaction comes when we find rest in Your arms.  In the precious Name of Jesus. Amen.
