Lead Me and I Will Follow

Romans 8:28

28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Heavenly Father, from time to time all of us experience disrupted plans, dashed dreams and harsh rejection. We applied for jobs that denied our applications; entered relationships that didn’t work; and encountered countless other disappointments that failed to go as we hoped and planned. However, in each scenario You produced a more excellent plan that was beyond our imagination; one that over time proved better for us. Lord, even when we don’t see the change as better, and even when we suffer the pain of disappointment and failure, we trust You to work all things together for our good and Your glory.

As we continue to make plans today, please cause us to first listen to You; and obey your directives when it is time to reroute and embrace change. Lord God as You disrupt our plans and supplant them with Your own, our challenge is to listen and obey. Let us understand that sometimes You even use the misguided notions and bad motives of our enemies to shut doors; causing us to shift to Your more perfect way.

Father God, only You can see our times that are beyond the horizon. And only You know the best method for change. We pray for wisdom to submit to Your will, as we fit into Your purpose for our lives. It is Your purpose that we want to prevail and not our own.

Holy God, we pray for strength and faith to trust You. Help us to know when the door that shuts is out of our control; it is never out of Yours. And if You permit doors to close in our faces, there are better things ahead. May we discover peace and contentment in Your redirection; and hope and thanksgiving in the “new things” you do in our lives. Dear God, we listen and submit to You because You are our Heavenly Father. And Father, You always know best. In Jesus Name we pray and give thanks. Amen.
