Colossians 3:23-24 23 Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.
Father God, every day you challenge our faith and compassion by showing us individuals all around who are struggling to survive. You bring before us the hungry, the homeless, the lost and the discouraged. And you tell us to be concerned enough to help alleviate their need. You direct us by Your Spirit and through the Word to do what we can to help; even when it seems insignificant. We promptly recognize that when we surrender our time and resources; You are pleased. Then Your purposes are satisfied, and Your love is on display.
Heavenly Father, we know that we can’t eradicate all the ills that plague the world; only You have that power. Even so, You allot to each of us a modest portion of that which can lighten the burdens of those we encounter. Sometimes ours is to extend a service; offer words of encouragement; engage in intercessory prayers; or provide necessary resources. No matter what our contribution may be; there is a part for all to play. And as we give our meager offerings to You, You utilize them to satisfy the masses in an amazing flow of grace.
Lord, today we surrender our efforts, talents, resources and services for Your high and holy use. We pray You cause us to willingly surrender whatever you designate for us to give; knowing You can make a little into a lot. Lord, You bless us to be a blessing to others. May we freely give for the sake of Your name. In Jesus Name we pray and give thanks. Amen.
